The Creative Saturday School launched its second term on Saturday 30th January. Here we focus on 3 of the core disciplines: acting, singing and dancing. Each term is different so it is not a course that is repeated but it is one that is always progressing. The Saturday school gives you the opportunity to follow your passion and develop your gifting in a non pressured environment. You can choose one, two or all three of the classes. Each term runs for 10 weeks and aims to enhance your understanding, confidence and delivery of the art form that you are passionate about. The Summer school will take place in August. This is a two week intense course where the student is invited on a journey about their creativity. Each day starts out with a creative devotion and then looks at a number of different arts forms in different styles. Last year we had a great time as the students had time to go through the highs and lows of exploring the gifting that God has given them; and learning to think in a new light. The course had lots of singing, acting and dancing, along with some physical theatre and mask workshop. We also had an artist come in and work with the students so that they walked away with a holistic experience. The course is designed for those that have a passion for the arts but have never had the opportunity to embark on a creative journey. It is also designed for those that are considering further study in the arts to give them a taste of what it's like to be immersed in the arts full time. We do not put pressure for a grand performance at the end but we aim to use the things that have been created throughout the course as tools during the Notting Hill Carnival evangelistic program. It really is an amazing experience that definitely does not disappoint!
The creative community meets once a month. This is for anyone that is actively working in the arts and media industry, those that are training in it, or those that have a serious passion for the arts. We welcome all. We meet in the lower hall one Monday per month. It is a great opportunity to network and meet fellow creative people that are in the church. We have been able to work with many of the community already which has been really wonderful. We look to showcase the individuals work along with give the support that people need being in the industry. Our next meeting is Monday 22nd February 7-9pm KT Lower Hall. This one is an actual event, which we are very much looking forward to.
