As Christians we are called to be salt and light in this world. We must not only be connected to the vine so that our light is routed in Christ but we are also to be high on a hill pushing the darkness away by making the Light visible. To have an impact by living as Christians and changing the spiritual atmosphere of our society. For the last 5 years we have used the Giants to focus on the areas of society which we want to be actively engaging as a church.
Now we are putting the finishing touches to our first ever Giants Conference on the 23rd and 24th April. If you are an environmental student or an ecological campaigner, a musician or a newspaper reporter, a business man or a commodities trader on the stock market, a teacher or an OFSTED inspector, a doctor or a medical student, a poet or a philosopher, a local councillor or politics A’ level student, a solicitor or a legal researcher, a science teacher or an inventor… we want to hear from you! With the general election coming up we want to encourage everyone to be part of the electoral process. In 2012 London will be open to the world because of the Olympics and this gives us great opportunities to engage with the giant of sports and leisure. The UN’s Climate Change Copenhagen Summit reminds us that we need to care for our planet and have a strategy for Ecology and the Environment. A key battle ground for politicians this year has been marriage.
How can we support those involved in marriage counselling and working in registrar’s offices so they can support marriage as a family unit?
Our goal in KT is to empower, facilitate and encourage you in whatever profession you are in. We want you to have your say in how KT can serve you and assist you as you live for Christ in your workplace. Are there things which we as a church need to be more aware of to pray into or maybe you are not sure how to bring your faith into your profession. We not only need God’s wisdom in our employment but it is also vital to connect with others in the same professions. Some of the giants have been meeting for years with active forums and training days while others are new and what we do throughout 2010 will be the foundation on which they are built.
Come on the evening of Friday 23rd and all day on Saturday 24th April to hear more.
We will have key note speakers looking at how we can best influence our society for Christ and also breakout groups where you can connect with people working in your field. It is vital that we have strong, specific feedback from you and we will set time aside for you to let us know how we can best equip you.
